10 Classic TV Adverts

Here's a selection of some classic tv adverts that I remember from my youth...

1) Kia Ora - I'll Be Your Dog not quite the Iggy Pop song.

2) Kinder Egg - Maybe one of the most disturbing adverts ever especially considering it was aimed at kids. Probably gave kids nightmares more than influencing them to buy an egg.

3) Um Bongo - One wonders what the inhabitants of the Congo would make of it especially as Mbongo is an Afrian creator God that vomits the Earth out!

4) Weetabix - Dunk was the leader, Brains was the intelligent one, Crunch was the muscle & Bixie was the female member of the group OK!

5) Shake n Vac - one of those adverts with a tune that has remained in people's memories for years.

6) R Whites Lemonade - I'm a secret lemonade drinker was written & sung by non other than Elvis Costello's dad with Elvis Costello helping out on backing vocals

7) Smash - For Mash Get Smash showed us the future... dried potato that just needs water to turn it into a tastless splodge.

8) Monster Munch - mmm Monster Munch....

9) Scotch Tape - Re-record not fade away, re-record not fade away...

10) Trio - a couple of stoners and a girl doing a Harry Belafonte impression, classic.

Stargate: Atlantis movie?

Rachel Luttrell has said she can't confirm rumours of a big screen version of Stargate: Atlantis.

The hit US show has just reached its finale, but Rachel said she had a feeling that there was more from the format to come, although stories of a movie version were "still rumours".

The actress, who has spent the past five years playing Teyla Emmagan in the sci-fi series said: "It's left with like a big kind of question mark and a dot, dot, dot and a kind of a sigh."

She continued: "In a way that's kind of a good thing because it lends itself to maybe a little bit more or if not at least you know the imagination of the fans to decipher where they think the characters may end up going."

Taking in London about a prospective big screen version of the show she said: "I really wish that I could solidify something but even for us we don't know, it's still in the rumour mill," she said.

Adding: "I am sure that there is somebody who knows, but I don't know it's not me, it's not me. The last I heard was that we were going to be shooting in November, but we'll see, once again big rumour, big rumour."
